Holy Spirit

00:00 / 25:12

Jesus said I’m leaving you someone who is better than me!

Peace, Joy, and Happiness come when the Holy Spirit arrives.

Noun- person, place, or thing

He’s called: Holy Ghost/ Holy Spirit/ Spirit of God/ Spirit of Truth

Is he an event? Is he a person?
The Holy Spirit is a WHO.

The Holy Spirit is NOT chaos.
1 Corinthians 14:40

God does things in decency and order.

When things are out of order, we don’t want to invite people to church.

The Holy Spirit is not forceful. He doesn’t want us to build up walls inside us.

God will show you what the world can look like when the real power of God shows up.

The Holy Spirit is a gentleman. He respects your free will.

*He acts when we ask.

The Holy Spirit isn’t crazy. He’s not like your crazy uncle or cousin.
1 Corinthians 14:33

We are who we are because we’ve invited the Holy Spirit into us.

Why are we so apprehensive? Why do we deny His power?

2 Timothy 3:5

God is looking for what we look like on the inside, not the outside. What you do Monday-Saturday matters.

Do you have plates and silverware that you only bring out on special occasions. Why do we have things around that we’re not willing to use?

What you struggle with, you cannot conquer it by yourself.

Do you have that towel hanging up in your bathroom that you’re not allowed to use? The towel is used to clean us up but you can’t be scared to use Him for your sweat and tears in everyday use!

Have you ever heard bad things about someone from a third party? You have a distorted or inaccurate view of them. That’s what’s happened in the church world.

Once you meet the Holy Spirit, every misconception of Him will change. It is a relationship.

When a farmer grows crops, his desire is the fruit but he has to be in relationship with the seed.

He sows, waters, and tends to the plants and waits on the plants, he’s going to be able
to reap the benefits.

You’re going to see progress if you keep tending and cultivating your relationship with the Holy Spirit- you’ll start seeing the fruit of the spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23

If you don’t see what you want to right now, but stay connected to the vine. Your fruit just isn’t ripe yet. Stay on the vine.

We need more time, patience, and endurance in our relationship with God.

When you’re ready, you have to share what you have with other people.

It’s not Holy Who? It’s Holy Spirit you’re my friend and stick closer to me than a brother.
You don’t have to ask the Holy Spirit to show up- He shows up every time you show up.

You have to be a carrier- carry the Holy Spirit. Allow Him to come in to your life by your salvation. Have you said yes to salvation? Have you accepted Jesus as your personal savior and allowed Him to wash away all your sins. He’s looking for you to surrender and allow Him to take over. Open yourself and your heart to Him.

Are you tired of just a few victories? The Holy Spirit equips you to live a victorious life if you open your heart up to Him.

The Holy Spirit is trying to do the best that He can if you’ll open your heart up to Him!

Holy Spirit

00:00 / 24:53

The Holy Spirit is sometimes misunderstood. He’s a person. Some people think he’s outdated.

The Holy Spirit is part of the holy trinity. He’s the helper.

Often he’s not talked about or set to the side. We know who Jesus is and we know who God is but we don’t always know who the Holy Spirit is exactly.

John 16:7

How can you look up to someone who hasn’t been through what you have been? The Holy Spirit has been through it all so he can relate to you.

Luke 24:4

You can’t let fear keep you from doing what you’re supposed to do.

Moses has a stutter, the prophets didn’t think people would come, we didn’t know if THIS

Ministry is seeing a need and filling it. It’s being available to be used by God.

Tarry means stay. Tarry in Jerusalem. Stay in the process. All you need to do is take one more step.

Patience produces power. You want to the power of God- wait on it.
God says sometimes it’ll take longer than you want it to.

Acts 2:1

God wouldn’t not fully pour out His power until they’re ready to receive it.

Luke 5:37

God isn’t going to leak out He’s going to pour out.

Acts 1:14

Sometimes you have to plant your feet and say “I’m not going anywhere!”
He will never leave or forsake you.

Acts 1:8

Acts 2:3-4

God took ordinary people and breathed life on them by the Holy Spirit.

Peter didn’t have a filter. He was always voicing in opinion. He raised His voice. Don’t worry about what you’re going to say, let the Holy Spirit do the talking for you. All you have to do is show up and be willing.

Luke 12:12

We don’t have it all together to be a minister of God. Allow the Holy Spirit to work in you. God is about to release a word on faith.

Went from coward to courageous.
Went from oppressed to possessed with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 5:28-29

If you want to grow the church, stay planted and invite the Holy Spirit in.

What if revival happened 365 days per year? It can. We need the Holy Spirit.

Acts 4:14

Sometimes you don’t need a touch, sometimes you just need the spirit to walk by you.

God wants to heal everyone, not just one person.

Do you want to grow? Do you want to see growth in your church? Do you want to see growth in your family? ALLOW THE HOLY SPIRIT THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK IN YOU.

Open your mind. Open your heart. Let Him do the work only He can do in you.
Are you being lead by the Spirit? He will change your life if you let Him

00:00 / 22:13

What does God want to talk about when He created the ocean?

The salt of the Earth.

Are you thirsty or are you producing thirst?

The woman at the well was thirsty for belonging. She met there right man at the well.

John 4:13-14

Matthew 5:6

We have to change our desire. We’re thirsty for the wrong things- money, power, fame.

When you’re in the desert, the only thing that matters is getting a drink. We have to be thirsty for God.

We have to be thirsty for what God is doing in our lives.

Salt preserves. quit throwing salt on things that should be dead.

The world is drowning. We have to be life preservers instead of anchors.

We have to throw salt on our present and our future. What legacy are you leaving behind?

Are you the salt or are you salty? What does your speech say? What flavor are you leaving for the world?

Are we enhancing the flavor of life or making it inedible?

Colossians 4:6

Our testimony should never be private. You have to start to telling people about how God changes your life to make others thirsty for Him.

Quit telling everyone about every bad detail of your life- start telling them Psalms 34:8- TASTE AND SEE!

Salt is essential to life.

Our bodies don’t naturally produce salt. Our bodies need God.

Your flesh wants to fight against God.

Matthew 5:13

The world has watered down the salt. YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH.

Salt is the main ingredient of the Earth. God says you are the main ingredient of life

It can’t be temporary, it has to be a lifestyle.

Maybe you’ve lost your flavor, but maybe you just have to check yourself and season yourself with the world, or coming to church when you don’t feel like it.

Maybe you’ve been trying to add the wrong things to your life. Maybe there are some things you thought were supplements but they were actually substitutes.

God says add this and we say “eh tastes fine.”
God says take this away and we say, “but it’s always tasted this way.”
God says “if you start seasoning your life with me, I’ll give you something you’ve never tasted before.”

Maybe you’ve been trying to find out what’s going to fill you up.

The world is trying to dilute us down.

Taste and see that the Lord is good!

13: Rich Watson | Changed 150 150 Melissa Scott

13: Rich Watson | Changed

00:00 / 26:24

The church struggles because it’s stuck in the old way of doing thing.

Adapting doesn’t mean abandoning.

The methods can change but the message never changes.

Prayer change: Lord so far today i’ve done alright. I haven’t been nasty or selfish but in a few minutes I’m going to get out of bed and I’m going to need your help for the rest of the day.

Change is a cause to be different. A transformation. Change is a process. Change doesn’t happen over night. God starts the process of transformation.

To see change, you have to get tired of the world and your world. You have to get sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Church can’t be the only thing you do to change.
Get involved, walk like Jesus. Change only comes if you’re willing to do it. You’ll have to W-O-R-K for it.

True change takes place on the inside then it’ll show up on the outside.

5 steps to change:
1. Make up your mind. (Romans 12:2, Colossians 3:2)
2. Make a move.
3. Get alone.(Ephesians 4:22)
4. You have to stay connected. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
5. Learn to fly.

Chrysalis = Christ. Jesus is our protective coating and barrier.

A caterpillar crawls through life. They’re earth bound. They see through small eyes, and think small thoughts.

What is your perspective?

God didn’t design you to crawl around on the ground in the dirt.

A metamorphosis takes place when you allow change.

2 Corinthians 5:17

You are not who you used to be.
God wants you to stop looking back on your old ID. God wants you to look at His identification of you.

No two butterflies are alike. They’re unique just like you.

We have to live like masterpieces.
Colossians 3:2

Ephesians 2:6

We’ve been creeping around and now God says IT’S TIME TO FLY

Change is necessary. Change comes with giving your life to Jesus. God is looking to take you to new levels.

God wants to change you so completely that you won’t recognize yourself.

You’ll start thinking differently and acting differently. He will lead you and prompt you.

A butterfly came from a caterpillar that stayed in the process.

God always allows you to get back into the process.

12: Rich Watson | Easter 2019 – The Cross has the Final Word

00:00 / 18:30

Somebody might have spoken something over you but the cross has the final word.

We might be a crumpled up mess but Jesus can make that mess into a message.

We’re going to get the rest of the story.

His story changed history.

His story can change your story.

John 19:30

The enemy always wants you to only see the darkness, negativity in your life, and the worst case scenario.

We had no access to God. We were guilty. After the veil tore, Jesus gave us access to God.

When Jesus said it is finished, He didn’t say I am finished.

He said depression and anxiety and addiction are finished!

There’s a first day in your life for everything! Today could be the first day of the rest of your life.

Luke 24:1

There’s a large stone that’s covering what we’re trying to get to. You can’t move it on your own. Prepare. Do you have an obstacle in your life? Prepare. Preparation gives you access.

Luke 24:5
Why do you keep hanging out in the grave yard? Why do you keep trying to give CPR to what God is trying to kill? God says get out of the grave yard.

His promises still stands. Great is His faithfulness. SEASON 2 IS COMING! This ain’t Netflix, this is real life! Aren’t you glad you weren’t canceled!?

God saw the sequel. A sequel is part two. It looks like you’re out but it’s not the end of your story. God said let’s see your sequel, you’re not finished. Don’t give up, get back up.

Luke 24:6
What you carried in with you today is no longer here. It’s your choice what you leave with.

Let’s go to a borrowed tomb in Jerusalem. The word borrowed means TO USE WITH THE INTENTION OF RETURNING. He borrowed His tomb because He knew he wasn’t buried.

Our worship is our warfare! SHAKE IT OFF.

His last day is your first day. It.Is.Finished.

By your spirit I will rise. Maybe someone’s burned you. From the ashes of defeat the resurrected King is resurrecting you!

Shake off the past and worship.

00:00 / 25:46

Easter isn’t just about candy. There’s a story we need to tell and there’s a story only your life can tell. Your story can change lives.

Mark 11:8-9

People will come to see.
Jesus is the living sacrifice.

God will never leave you in the place you’re at if you’re willing to do the work to get to where He wants you to be.

How quickly do we forget and turn away when Jesus asks more of us?
People who stay are the people who really want to know who God is.

Matthew 26:36

Sometimes God’s looking for us to pray a real prayer.

If we could save ourselves, we would have no hope.

*Is God asking you to do or say something that you don’t think you have the capacity to do? Pressure produces a diamond.

If you feel the pressure, you’re getting somewhere. God is trying to make a gem out of you.

Instead of a breakdown, you’re going to break through.

Matthew 26: 43-44

Whenever we get the the place that we’re serving God, we are able to release our cares and worries onto God. Break through not break down.

It may take one more step to build your strength or make a break through. Don’t give up. Keep going back to the Father.

Matthew 26:33-35
Matthew 26:56
Matthew 26:58

How closely do we follow? Why do we want to keep Jesus at a distance?

Closeness with God will cost you something.

If you’re trying to change yourself, it might not be sustainable. If God changes you, it can last a lifetime.

If you want to change, let God invade your personal space. You can have as much God that you want in your life.

God is willing to fight for you. He wants your heart.

Genesis 3:17

When the crown was placed on the King’s head, it represented the weight of the world. Jesus was thinking about the weight of your sin when He chose to do that.

Mark 15:34
Jesus has your sins of the past, present, and future.
Anytime you start to think about your bad day, praise God for his Good Friday.

Luke 23:34

Hebrews 12:2

As we reflect on this Easter season, take a day or two and fast /pray and put yourself in the position Jesus was in. Is it a good story someone told us or do we believe it? The course of human history was made on this weekend!

This decision could change your past, present, and future.

There are over 700,000 people in Louisville who don’t attend church. We want our church to reach those people. We don’t need to build the church with people from the church who closed down the street or from people who are disgruntled with other churches or pastors.

We want to reach people who don’t know Jesus. We are the church for the unchurched, dechurched, and over churched.

Philippians 3:13

If you had all the answers you would have fixed your problems yourself.

We have to stop judging people and have GRACE AND MERCY first. You wouldn’t be sitting here if it weren’t for God’s mercy.

Church is for the hurt and broken. God says “let me take you through a process.”

Philippians 3:15-16

We need maturity. We’re building a new house. Not every house is the same. How boring would church be if everything was the same?

Opposition is going to come when you go against what the world tells you you should do or be.

We don’t fit the mold. We don’t need to fit the mold. You can belong before you behave or even believe.

God’s mercy is endless but there comes a time that it does matter you did last night.

We have built this house on knowing God, finding freedom, discovering purpose and making a difference.

Genesis 3:1
Half a truth is a whole lie. Second hand information is causing problems in the body of Christ and marriages. We are to listen to the source and the source is Jesus.

Genesis 3:2-3
Our “but” gets us in trouble. I know I should do this but……

Genesis 3:4
We live in a culture that promotes that we are our own Gods. Our GPS should be GodPS. God wants to divert you from all the potholes in the road.

Genesis 3:6
The devil tries to entice you with what has left your life because of God, or the thing you know is wrong.
The barriers distort our view.

God isn’t just “the man upstairs”

God is not a scorekeeper or drill sergeant.

God is not a Starwars God that is just a force out there.

God is not a Chipotle God that you get to pick and choose what you want.

God is not a Siri God. He is not just there to keep in your pocket to only use when you need something.

God isn’t a Grandpa God that is outdated.

God isn’t a President God that we just take stuff to for the big decisions. God says bring EVERYTHING to me.

Information without application can’t cause transformation.

We have expectations of God to look and be a certain way but he wants to be closer to you than a brother.

A relationship and a house isn’t built overnight. He wants us to trade our admiration for devotion. He wants us to ask questions and seek Him. He wants us to trade our knowledge for an intimate relationship with Him. If we turn off our distractions, God will speak to us.

We were created to love God. We were created to be in relationship with Him.

If you wanted to become a better person and thought you could do it by yourself, you would have already done it by now.

John 14:6
Jesus broke down all the barriers and misconceptions.

God is saying I just want you to know me. I’m not a million miles away.

God is where you left Him, He hasn’t left you. He says it doesn’t matter how far you’ve gone, He just wants you to come back to Him. Come home. Come as you are.

It was March Madness for Jesus:
John 6:14
John 6:26

Were they hungry or HUNGRY? Did they want something to eat or were Jesus’ followers hungry for His word and teachings?

Jesus was looking for players, not spectators.
Are we in the game or just go to the game?

There’s no real commitment

Fans mistake admiration for devotion.
They mistake knowledge for intimacy.
Jesus doesn’t what you to know about Him, He wants you to know Him.

There’s no way to follow Jesus without interference. You’ll see changes in your life. He’ll start cutting things out

John 6:35

Jesus says, “do you love me or just want my benefits?”

The enemy is trying to convince you that your old life was better.

Mark 3:25

When we think of “a house divided” we think of UK and UofL. But the enemy wants to divide your house, divide your marriage, divide your friendships, and so on.

Mark 6:2-4

Your family and friends will see that your life is changing. If there’s not a change in your life than something’s wrong. People will start noticing which team you’re on when you’re on team Jesus.

Division stifles what God wants to do.

Mark 6:5-6
He couldn’t do anything with the home team so we went recruiting. Jesus will never stop until the team is complete.

Jesus is calling us to be on His team. He’s the coach. The problems we have are happening because we haven’t figured out how to be a team player.

The bench can motivate you or make a victim out of you.

We love walk-ons. They didn’t get a scholarship but they know what team they want to be on. They put in the hard work knowing they may never get the spotlight. I MAY NOT HAVE THE SPOTLIGHT BUT I KNOW I WANT TO BE ON GOD’S TEAM.

There’s UNITY in commUNITY.

Hebrews 12:1

Maybe you feel like you’re not in the game, not on the bench, or even in the stadium. No matter the score, no how much time is left in the game or who the opponent is- with Jesus we win.

God is the God of the comeback! He sees you as valuable.

We need to tell the devil NOT IN MY HOUSE.

Sometimes you just have to take a time-out to:
•re-evaluate the team you’re on
•create momentum for yourself
•break the momentum of the enemy
•get rest

God rested in Genesis! on the 7th day he RESTED.

God isn’t just looking for the star of the team, He’s looking for YOU.
