thanksgiving is a very distinctive holiday — but our culture has changed
– rise in ME centered world
– because culture of honor is not taught
– need to teach kids to thank their parents for all that they do for them
Romans 1:21
Philippians 2:14
– we cannot allow a spirit of ingratitude to harden our hearts
– when we become less thankful we become colder & colder toward God
– 1.85 billion people live in EXTREME poverty
– 61% of the world live in poverty
– 2% of the worlds poor live in America
Don’t have a “never enough” mentality
– these people are preoccupied with what they do not have
– when money consumes your life, that’s a problem. thanksgiving has lost its value
Philippians 4:12
– we have to learn to thank God for whatever we have!
– God want to use material and monetary blessings for us to be a blessing to others
– give, and it will be given to you
– Bible says that you will reap 10-fold
Life is short
– let people that you love know how much you love them and are grateful for them
– friends and mentors need to know how much they’ve impacted you
Philippians 4:6-7
– tell God that even if you don’t get what you want you will thank Him anyways
